dc.descriptionАbstract. Introduction: The article focuses on understanding the scientific heritage of Ivan Bilodid in the context of the Ukrainian psycholinguistics formation under the conditions of a totalitarian society. Some psycholinguistic ideas of the scholar remained undervalued, so they should be given due attention. Purpose: To present the contribution of Ivan Bilodid as a representative of the Kyiv scientific school to the development of Ukrainian psycholinguistics. Results: The article deals with the analysis of Ivan Bilodid’s psycholinguistic concept, who considers psycholinguistics as the science of a mental mechanism of speech, which is closely related to the psyche and thinking of a person. The author substantiates the concept of linguistic personality as the integration of sociolinguistic norms and individual mental characteristics, in particular temperament, which affects speech behaviour. The emphasis is on an interdisciplinary approach to the study of language, as well as on the differentiation of linguistic personality types by the level of a linguistic activity. Chief focus is on the role of the speaker’s associative thinking, which includes lexical semantic and syntactic associations, in the formation of individual speech. I. Bilodid’s concept remains relevant for modern studies of the national linguistic personality and its speech activity. Originality. The scientific novelty of the article consists in the actualization of the little-studied psycholinguistic ideas of I. Bilodid, in particular in the analysis of such key problems as the connection of speech with temperament and types of nervous activity; strong (logical intellectual, unbalanced) and weak types of speech in the oral and written spheres of expression; the mechanism of associative thinking. Conclusions and specific suggestions of the authors. It has been proven that in the 1970s I. Bilodid had progressive views that were ahead of his time, espoused the principles of anthropocentrism, functionalism, and expansionism, and stood at the origins of the linguistic personality and associative linguistics theory, laying the foundation for the further development of these areas in the national scientific tradition. The article refutes the widespread notion in scientific discourse about the lack of development of psycholinguistic thought within Ukrainian linguistics in the totalitarian era. The perspective of the study is determined by the need to present a holistic picture of the history of psycholinguistics development in Ukraine.
dc.description.abstractСтаттю присвячено осмисленню наукової спадщини Івана Білодіда в контексті формування української психолінгвістики в умовах тоталітарного суспільства. Презентовано ключові теоретичні положення вченого щодо психологічних основ індивідуального мовлення, типів мовної особистості та психічних механізмів мовленнєвої діяльності. Новизна статті полягає в актуалізації малодосліджених психолінгвістичних ідей І. Білодіда, зокрема в аналізі таких ключових проблем, як зв’язок мовлення з темпераментом і типами нервової діяльності; сильний (логіко-інтелектуальний, неврівноважений) і слабкий типи мовлення в усній і писемній сферах вираження; механізми асоціативного мислення. Особливу увагу приділено окресленню дослідником поняття «мовна особистість» і визначенню її рівнів та ознак. У висновках наголошено, що І. Білодід у 70-их роках ХХ ст. мав прогресивні погляди, які випереджали час, сповідував засади антропоцентризму, функціоналізму й експансіонізму, стояв біля джерел зародження асоціативної психолінгвістики, закладаючи підґрунтя для подальшого розвитку цього напряму в національній науковій традиції. Стаття спростовує поширене в науковому дискурсі твердження про відсутність розвитку психолінгвістичної думки в українському мовознавстві в тоталітарну добу. Перспектива дослідження зумовлена необхідністю презентації цілісної картини історії розвитку психолінгвістики в Україні.
