dc.descriptionThe research is carried out in the focus of the theory of terminology, terminography and translation studies and is devoted to the problem of systematising the terms of the field under consideration, which was carried out on the basis of updating the concepts of translation studies presented in the encyclopedia ‘Modern Linguistics’ (2006) by O. Selivanova. The relevance of the research is motivated by the fact that the problem of identifying the basic terms of translation studies is still under discussion, and the debate is not over. The novelty of the article is explained by the fact that it is one of the first attempts to divide the terms of translation studies into ideographic groups representing the core and peripheral zones of the basic terms of translation studies. Its theoretical significance lies in the development of a mechanism for dividing the collected terms into thematic groups, and its practical significance lies in the formation of a system of translation studies terms for compiling a corresponding dictionary on their basis. It has been found that the basic terms of translation studies considered in O. Selivanova’s encyclopaedia comprise more than 100 units. The selected terms relate to the issues of translation studies methodology, its history, translation criticism, as well as the peculiarities of translators’ professional activity. However, the encyclopaedia under consideration does not cover all the basic terms of translation studies. It has been proved that the considered terminology system contains eight thematic groups, seven of which represent the basic area, in particular, the names of translation studies sections, relevant subcategories; types of translation; translation agents; conceptual theories; phenomena and linguistic concepts that provoke translation errors; tropes and figures that constitute translation difficulties, and one – the names of sciences related to translation studies – is peripheral. The terms of translation studies are mostly one-word, but there are many simple and complex word combinations and applied constructions. Most of them are borrowed terms (Greekisms, Latinisms, Gallicisms, Germanisms). The prospect of the study is to find out how translation studies terms are created.
dc.description.abstractНаукова розвідка виконана у фокусі теорії терміно знавства, термінографії і перекладознавства та присвячена висвітленню проблеми систематизування термінів перекладознавства, що здійснено на основі актуалізації понять цієї галузі знань, презентованих в енциклопедії «Сучасна лінгвістика» (2006) авторства О. Селіванової. Актуальність наукової розвідки мотивована тим, що проблема виокремлення базових термінів перекладознавства ще в процесі обговорення, і дискусія не завершена. Новизну ж статті пояснюємо тим, що в ній здійснено одну з перших спроб поділу термінів перекладознавства на ідеографічні групи, що презентують ядрову й периферійну зони базових термінів перекладо знавства. Її теоретичне значення полягає, власне, у виробленні механізму розподілу зібраних термінів за тематичними групами, а практичне – у формуванні системи термінів перекладознавства для укладання на їхній базі відповідного словника. З’ясовано, що базові терміни перекладознавства, розглянуті в енциклопедії О. Селіванової, складають понад 100 одиниць. Виокремлені терміни стосуються питань методології перекладознавства, його історії, перекладознавчої критики, а також особливостей професійної діяльності перекладачів. Однак розглядувана енциклопедія зафіксувала не всі базові терміни перекладознавства. Доведено, що розглядувана терміносистема містить вісім тематичних груп, сім із яких презентують базову зону, зокрема це назви розділів перекладознавства, відповідних підкатегорій; типів перекладу; агенсів перекладу; концептуальних теорій; явищ і лінгвістичних понять, що прово кують перекладознавчі помилки; тропів і фігур, що складають труднощі перекладу, а одна – назви наук, пов’язаних із перекладознавством, – складає периферійну зону. Терміни перекладознавства переважно однослівні, але чимало простих й ускладнених словосполук, прикладкових конструкцій. Їх більшість складають запозичені терміни (грецизми, латинізми, галліцизми, германізми). Перспектива дослідження полягає в необхідності з’ясування способів творення термінів перекладознавства.
