dc.description.abstractIn this scientific study on a wide range of language material (Internet space, media sources, oral speech, fiction) the expansion of semantics, syntactic and pragmatics of the nominative potential of the color name green is demonstrated, taking into account the epidemiological links (semantic and semantic and word-formation), the national specifics of the functioning of this color name in the Ukrainian language are represented. It is investigated that the symbolism of the color name green is connected with the natural philosophy of Ukrainians, their beliefs, specifically it is manifested in religious discourse. The commonality and difference in the perception of this color name in related and unrelated languages, enshrined in phraseology, are aspectually shown. At the present stage of the development of the Ukrainian language, the lexeme green testifies to the semantic, syntagmatic and pragmatic potential, the creation of neologisms, preserving a universal typological model, represents the progress from a specific comparison to a color generalization. This color name takes an active part in terminologizing, phraseologizing, colloquializing and neologizing the language, in a way verbalizes the category of evaluation, sliding on its scale from positive to negative. The expansion of the metaphorization of the lexeme green is largely connected with the language game, manipulation of the precedent name of the current President of Ukraine, which gives rise to a number of unique purely Ukrainian figurative political terms, occasionalisms.
