- ДокументThe COVID-19 Pandemic, Twitter, and the Archetype of “Country Savior” in the Ukrainian Case(Romania: Studia Politica, 2022) Steblyna, Nataliia Oleksandrivna; Matsyshyna, Iryna; Skalatska, OlenaThe COVID-19 pandemic has attracted the attention of social scientists to the study of the role and influence of archetypes on public opinion. Ukrainian politicians have been informing citizens on social networks about the fight against the pandemic. It was presented as a feat, the salvation of not only the nation, but also of the world. Politicians have been independently constructing an image of the hero who helps to create a vaccine or arrange its supply and save the country’s population. To establish the archetype of the hero through the discourse of vaccination, this article analyzes the strategies of constructing the archetype of the “country savior,” using the Greimas actantial model. As a result, the actantial categories were discovered by using computer semantic analysis of tweets. The authors found that politicians used the archetypes of the saviorindustrialist (Viktor Medvedchuk), savior-inspirer (Volodymyr Zelenskyy), and savior-patron (Petro Poroshenko). A method for measuring negativism and its intensity in the messages of politicians was also proposed, and it was found that the government officials perceive the situation in a more positive way, while the opposition mostly negatively. It was also found that the amount of negativism and its intensity can be interpreted through the actantial models.
- ДокументEXPLICIT AND IMPLICIT FORMS OF SELFDETERMINATION AS GEOPOLITICAL PRESSURE ON THE FORMATION OF UKRAINE'S LOCAL POLICY (1994 – 2004)(Tbilisi, Georgia: "Europe Our House", 2019) Matsyshyna, IrynaThe purpose of the article is to demonstrate open and hidden forms of external influence on Ukraine's domestic policy on the example of regional claims for selfdetermination. The major problem is that the Russian language issue, difficulties in boundary delimitation and the lack of information strategy in Ukraine's foreign policy resulted in an explicit and implicit influence on the political situation in Ukraine in 1994 - 2004. The analysis of the problem covers the times of L. Kuchma's presidency and has been undertaken on the basis of materials of the Ukrainian press of that time. The content analysis helped to track the reflection of Ukrainian society at the challenges of that time and discover the technologies of influence.
- ДокументFLEXIBLE TIME AND NEW FORMS OF CONTROL(Czech Republic: European Political and Law Discourse, 2017) Matsyshyna, IrynaIn production conditions, modern human beings are forced to live under the laws of the digital age. Within it, corporate ideology obliges to sacrifice for the common good. Migration flows mix borders of fixed mass. It becomes moveable and may not only change its social status but also may be a threat of destabilization. Mass migration of people has already demonstrated incapability of power to control society, for whom time is a more significant life category than space.
- ДокументPOLITICIANS AS SYMBOLS DURING POLITICAL CONFRONTATION (UKRAINE. 1994 – 2004)(Czech Republic: «European Political and Law Discourse», 2018) Matsyshyna, IrynaThere are instruments which can help to find logic and mechanisms for constructing political reality, to find the relationship between the author and the reader, the socio‐cultural and political environment. And the semiotic approach gives us such possibility. For political scientists, signs and symbols are primarily a text, which consists of words, images, sounds, and gestures. It is a certain sign system, which analysis allows understanding how the use of signs creates a sense. Of course, a channel that transmits a message plays an important role, and due to its influence semiotic texts receive their additional information. On the other hand, political institutes involved in the production of messages communicate with the audience, therefore, the peculiarity of its perception also forms the specifics of texts. In general, the concept of "political semiotics" may be understood as the use of symbols in order to stabilize political power. Thereby, the main subject of this study is how that stabilization was taking place during the presidency of L. Kuchma in Ukraine.
