A large part of the population of Ukraine, especially students, is interested in learning a foreign language, as it provides a significant number of benefits and opportunities for building a successful career and becoming a competitive professional. However, the constant information development and socio-economic changes in society require a review of the existing traditional system of teaching foreign languages and the use of new technologies. With this in mind, this article is devoted to the peculiarities of the use of interactive technologies in the teaching of English for specific purposes in higher education institutions. After all, these interactive technologies of foreign language teaching can improve the professional training of specialists in various fields, reduce the gap between the educational process and future professional activities, as well as turn the student into a subject of his own activities. The aim of this article is a detailed study and analysis of interactive methods and technologies of teaching English in higher education institutions, as well as establishing the importance of their use in the learning process. The concept of “interactive technologies” is analyzed, their meanings are revealed and the main types are singled out. The main methods of innovative technologies in the process of mastering English for professional purposes in higher education institutions are described. It is established that the introduction of interactive learning technologies in the process of mastering English for specific purposes is one of the main conditions for optimal development of future professionals in all areas of social interaction. It is emphasized that the use of acquired knowledge in personal, cultural, political and other types of communication, as well as the perfect use of English in professional activities creates a future progressive specialist. A number of proposals for the use of innovative methods of mastering the English language in the educational process have been developed.

At the time of the COVID-19 outbreak, online learning was not new. Many HEIs have already used this tool during distance and blended learning at all academic levels and forms of foreign language teaching. The article explores different views on the latest ways of teaching foreign languages in the HEIs. The challenges and possibilities of using modern online resources and technologies during distance and blended learning are studied. According to Yu. Bystrova, the concept of “the newest teaching methods” is multicomponent, as it combines all the new and effective ways of the educational process (acquisition, transfer and production of knowledge), which, in fact, contribute to the intensification and modernization of education, develop a creative approach and personal potential of higher education applicants (Bystrova, 2015: 27–33). The issue of introducing the latest methods in higher education in Ukraine, taking into account these forms of education, is always relevant. This work is aimed at a thorough analysis of the latest methods of teaching foreign languages which began to develop actively and rapidly due to the growing need to master a foreign language in the short term. It is proved that high-quality foreign language training of the students of HEIs is possible with the introduction of modern educational technologies, such as vocational training, project method, intensive and distance learning technologies, information and telecommunication technologies, work with educational and control computer programs in foreign languages, game technologies, creation of presentations, training systems, etc.
